travel :: lakes

Two weeks ago, I went on a little day trip to the Lake District with a friend. We town-hopped till we dropped, and I loved every minute of it.

There is nothing like driving from Lake Windermere, through Ambleside to Keswick. The scenery is incredible. The hills are rolling, and the weather was so moody that they looked purple. It was the perfect Autumn scene: golden and burnt-orange trees line the road, the rain pouring on the windscreen, and the clouds rolling in. Not a blue sky in sight, but boy was it beautiful.

LAKE WINDERMERE

We started off by visiting Lake Windermere, possibly the most Instagrammed part of the Lakes.

Then it was time for gift shopping. I picked up the cutest birthday presents for my little best friend Sophia in France, who is now eight; as well as a gorgeous reusable coffee cup, with a name band to protect my hands when the cup’s hot.

It was then time for tea and cake, moi’s best idea! It was heavenly, and what a cake that chocolate torte was.

KESWICK

It took forever to get to Keswick, but the awesome drive (as described above) made it all worth it.

Gift shopping happened again, of course… It was worth it! I picked up my Secret Santa gift and I’m so excited to surprise my housemate (no clues given!!!).

KENDAL

We headed to Kendal for tea, can’t beat Pizza Express.

And home time it was. It felt like a long drive in the dark back, but it was well worth it.

Love,

Anna
