Well, well, well. Haunted by infrequency, here I am once again. Writing escaped me for a long while but now that it’s 2022, I want to get back into it again and explore that side of my creativity.
What a year 2021 was. A real test of my patience, strength, faith – the list is endless. And while we’re on that note, I would just like to call out the passing of my Great Auntie Auriel – a formidable woman who I wish I could have learned more from, but the conversations we did share were sweet and emphasised the sisterly bond between my Gran and herself. She will, I am sure, remain in our hearts and thoughts, along with the stories my Gran tells of their childhood.
Life tested me last year. I am grateful for what I learned from it but I do still catch myself tired, exhausted frankly, from the months and months of anxiety. Perhaps the best thing I did was go through a course of therapy. Undoubtedly changing my outlook on not only life but more so on my reactions to it, I’ve learned skills and put them into practice. Resilience is something I’m going to continue to work on this year and also more positive self-talk. There’s no need to be so internally critical.
In Brené Brown’s own words, “January was tough”. January was weird okay. I really tried to be kind to myself this January but I did find it hard. I had to sit back and avoid the creeping sense that I was wasting away the year already. Which, let’s be honest, is completely silly! There’s no such thing. Time passes at the same speed, whether you’re productive or not.
This year I’m trying to reconnect with some of my favourite habits. Fashion is a big one of them, stepping up my Instagram and forcing myself to create content with my wardrobe. I say forcing, but, I guess I mean it. I don’t want to lapse, I want to start making reels and having fun, and hopefully, growing my account.
I also want to get back into blogging. Now that I’m a full time Content Writer (honestly, dream job) I spend my days creating brand-related content. And it’s all fashion, so how me is that?! But I want to see where I can take Kulayrosas this year. While working, I’ve found fashion blogs have died a bit of a death. The old bloggers I used to love back in the Tumblr & Blogspot days have now just turned to Instagram and have stopped playing with the written word. So I’m going to carve out that space for myself and bring a hybrid fashion-lifestyle-wellness blog into the mix.
Art is going to feature in my life this year too. I really miss sketching and painting, not so good at the doodling but anything goes. I want to see if I can find an art class or club, perhaps in Manchester, where I can meet new people and be creative. I need to dig out my paintbrushes and watercolours and let some expression out.

March is already looking incredible. I’m kicking it off with a trip to Paris avec mon amour so it’s sure to be a good month. We’ve reserved an AirBnB near La Bastille and my favourite quartier Le Marais.
If you need something on in the background this week, give Brené Brown’s penultimate podcast a listen. You can listen to it on Spotify here. It centres on values and I knew as soon as I saw the title that I would hear something that would resonate with me.
It being almost the end of February already is quite terrifying. The year is passing by at speed. I have to say though, so far it has been a great year. I am really enjoying my job and am nearly four months in now. It’s a joy to be able to combine the written word with fashion. I cannot complain about being around clothes all day long.
I’ve been investing in new, staple pieces recently – all of which I can’t wait to style and get content in. I think my next blog post will be about that and how I’m making them work to my body.
So, while this feels brief, thanks for sticking with me and tuning in to take a few minutes out of your day to read this post.
I hope you’ll come back for more.
A la prochaine,
Anna
Lol, we do fall victim to the Hiatus Monster from time to time, but I’m glad you’re deciding to give blogging another chance. And yay to drawing and painting! I just picked up doodling and have been enjoying it a lot. Wishing you all the best with your creative journey!

Thank you so much! Here I am and it’s October and I’ve not written since this post in February! But determined now to get back into the swing of things. I’ve missed this written creative side of myself!
